Flute and piano among his other talents, Burt Mueller has a well rounded gift for the guitar and bass. The Rainbow came first, and is constructed of swamp ash, maple neck, Floyd Rose, EMG S,S and 89, and Sperzel tuners. The "Tele" style guitar is dense ash, Moses neck, EMG T's and Sperzel tuners.Burt's current band, THE PROMISE, plays everything. In addition to classical endeavors, he is also involved in a project called VITRIOLA. Here's a word from Burt Mueller himself:
Playing guitar, synth and flute for local variety band, THE PROMISE, as well as experimenting at home with multiple programmable multi-effects units in various configurations, my guitars MUST, repeat MUST be as versatile as they can get. Often covering telecaster twang and hot rodded gain in the same song, a guitar has to deliver full bodied gutsy tone while remaining able to sound clean and acoustic-like during ballads and lighter rhythm parts.
Besides the two custom HG THOR guitars, I have had him wire and otherwise modify nearly every one of my "name brand" guitars:
An Ibanez JEM Floral Pattern, which now sports Evans pickups and has ten different pickup configurations.
An aluminum body "Abel Axe" that has pickups wired in series or parallel to get the most variety from two humbucking pickups.
A Peavey Destiny (neck through body) with a more appropriately tapered volume pot and a much better Steeler Kahler tremolo than the stock "Spyder" that I found was all but eliminating the guitar's otherwise superior sustain.
