Spotlight: Harris G. Thor

Biography:
·
American composer-performer Harris G. Thor received education at
West Campus, Berkeley California, and Broome Community College, Binghamton, New
York and studied with Bill Washer, Paul Winter, Doug Beardsley, Wavy Gravy, and
Rick Masten. He premiered his composition
"Nestle These Quick" at the Barbazon School
of Modeling graduation ceremony of 1972. A multi-instrumentalist, he performs
on guitar, guitar synthesizer, fretless bass, banjo, lap steel, synthesizer, and
harmonica. Since 1978 he has led ensembles with artists including Armen Boyajian, Zane Massey, Marko Marcinko,
and B. J. Liederman and has played with Ed Carter of
the Beach Boys, cellist Hank Roberts, composer Eric Ross and Peter Dodge. Currently
he is performing and recording with UnityGroup,
Ringtones and HG & The Golden Sunns. Harris is
the owner and operator of the Captured Music Studio- a performance space and
recording studio. He has produced hand-made electric guitars and basses, and performed
electronics and instrument repairs at the HG Thor Guitar Lab since 1990. He is
currently president of Easy Motion Inc., inventors and manufacturers of
the Woodwiz® Splitter
.
